BUYING GUIDES
Before you order a solar gate operator kit
Practical equipment guidance from The Gate Guy.
A good equipment order starts with the whole installation. A kit supplies the listed components; the property still determines the mounting, power, wiring and safety requirements.
1. Record the gate details
Measure the gate leaf and identify whether you have one swing gate or two. Record its approximate weight, post construction, hinge arrangement and opening direction. Include photos of both sides of the gate and its mounting area when asking for help.
2. Check what is actually in the box
Our standard single-gate 5W and 10W packages each include one actuator, a control box with board, weld-on bracket and hardware kit, one 300MHz receiver, two transmitters and the selected solar panel. No battery is included.
The dual-gate and operator-only packages have different contents. Use the packing list on the exact product page rather than assuming that every operator includes a solar panel, receiver or remotes.
3. Plan the battery and charging setup
Match the battery, charging equipment and installation to the current manual for the exact model. Include the power needs of connected accessories. A shaded panel location or extra electrical load can change the charging requirement.
4. Confirm the installation scope
Have your installer identify the mounting hardware, field wiring, conduit and site-specific safety devices needed for the gate. Check the gate condition and travel before fitting an operator. Installation and final safety checks are separate from buying the equipment.
5. Keep the right documentation
Use the exact operator and control-board documentation. Find manuals and support information. If the model or package is unclear, send us the details before ordering.
